1911-04-15 - Blowing A Gale

Easter Even. Blowing a gale with drift and temperature —18.5°F. Some of our severest weather when a blizzard comes on and the temperature remains so low.

Spent the day in all of us, darning and sewing and reading. Our salt ran out and we have replaced our stock by boiling down brine collected off the top of young sea ice.

No new clothes to put on tomorrow, I fear, but we have been saving up our only tin of milk, a thing we haven't tasted since the end of January. We also have 8 more meals of marmalade.
