This afternoon the first greeting from the south arrived in the form of two rather large icebergs. They were invisible from the deck and we had to climb up to the crow’s-nest to see them.
Towards the east lay the two ice mammoths, sun-lit and glistening white; it was as though the adventure in the south had begun. Tonight the temperature is 28 °F (-2 °C) and the deck is covered with frozen spray.
